Unitized Terracotta Clay Tile Systems

Water is the most significant factor in the premature deterioration of building envelopes. It causes rotting of metals, molding of organic materials and unintended stresses due to freeze thaw cycling.

  • Three conditions are required to allow water movement through building envelopes:

  • A source of water.
  • A pathway for water to flow.
  • A force to drive water along the pathway.

    • If any one of these conditions is eliminated moisture penetration cannot occur. The rain screen method of exterior wall construction controls and manages the forces that allow water movement in the envelope.

    The basic system configuration incorporates two layers separated by an air gap with various levels of water protection. This method of construction, although superior to face sealed systems, is expensive and time consuming.

    • By pre-manufacturing this high performance terra cotta system, we can ensure the flashing's, air barriers, support aluminum channels and terra cotta clay veneers are constructed correctly. Problems with multiple trade involvement working under field conditions are eliminated by substituting our system, resulting in a better exterior wall. Our system has been fully tested for air, water infiltration and thermal requirements and it meets or exceeds current code standards.
