Panelized Stone Veneer Systems

For centuries, stone has been a mainstay material of building construction. Recent technological advances in building design have allowed for the combination of natural stone exteriors and supporting lightweight backup wall systems.

During the past quarter century, Sanford Contracting has been developing and perfecting panelized wall backup systems, including those for stone veneers, that incorporate light gage metal framing members and structural steel. Several structural panel designs and panelizing schemes are available to meet your project’s specific requirements. All Sanford panel systems are designed for compatibility with today’s building codes, including the latest changes to the energy conservation standards.

Our factory applied stone veneer systems can be manufactured using two different methods. The first option is the standard 1¼” (3cm) thick facade, which is fastened mechanically to panelized backup wall framing. The second option is ¾” (1.5cm) thick stone, which is adhered to the backup wall with sprayed structural insulating foam. The unique foam support system provides all necessary energy R-values, fire ratings, plus, aesthetics at big savings due to lessened material requirements and significantly diminished overall wall weight. Furthermore, by using thinner stone veneers with our unique truss panel backup system, additional cost savings are created from lighter building steel, smaller foundations, lessened seismic load impacts and faster wall erection/building enclosure. The truss system backup design used in conjunction with stone foam support, solves problems caused by exterior building movements and eliminates unwanted stress loads placed on the stone veneer; issues commonly found with conventionally anchored stone exteriors. These benefits and more make our panelized stone veneer systems an even better choice for building retrofit projects.
